Killstress Designs is a design-build company. We consult, design, engineer, and make products for the arts and entertainment industry, architecture, robotics and technology, and industrial sectors.

STRATEGY / OODA LOOP
No matter how unique a concept might be, our methods stay grounded. The OODA loop is a highly effective problem-solving strategy that we apply to every project. O-O-D-A stands for observe, orient, decide, act.
Art, entertainment, and technology are wide open spaces for creative ideas and exploration. At Killstress we know that keeping an open mind is as important as observing a project's parameters. We want to know: what are your ideas, your goals, your concerns and questions? What haven't you thought of? We're listening. And we aim to collect information from as many sources as possible to truly understand the broader context and imagine the possibilities.
Information is useless unless you can make sense of it. (Is it supposed to look that way? Is this right? Is that normal?) When you're developing something new, how do you know whether things are going well or if there's a problem? Understanding the data can be challenging if you're exploring unfamiliar territory. This is where experience comes in. Our team has experience in the fine arts and entertainment industries, manufacturing industry, classical trades (woodworking, metalworking), industrial robotics, theatrical automation, and architecture. We speak all these languages and often pull from one field to address needs in another.
Time to choose a course of action. Create a design. Engineer a solution. We'll listen to feedback, Observe, Orient, and make further decisions. This is work in progress and discipline at work.
We follow through on our decisions. We clearly communicate our actions, and expect others to do the same. Then we circle back to the Observe stage to judge the effects of our actions. This is how we continue to learn, and continually improve. This is how we work to help you realize your goals and turn exciting new concepts into reality - on time, according to plan, as a team.
